Editorial policy

Our aim is simple: every number on this site should be something you can check.

Calculators

  • Each calculator shows its formula and states its default assumptions (such as inverter efficiency or panel losses) so you can change them.
  • Before publishing, we test calculators against hand-worked examples, including the worked examples printed on each page.
  • Default device wattages are typical values for planning. We always recommend checking your own device's label or measuring it.

Guides

  • We use AI writing tools to help research, outline and draft articles. A person reviews every article before it's published, checking calculations, comparing claims against manufacturer documentation and reputable public sources (such as government energy agencies), and removing anything that can't be supported.
  • We don't invent personal experiences, testimonials or product tests. If we ever review a product hands-on, the article will say so and describe what was actually tested.
  • We avoid recommending specific products unless we can explain why, based on published specifications.

Corrections

If you find an error, email hello@portablepowercalc.com. Substantive corrections are made promptly, and the page's "updated" date is changed to reflect them.

Independence

The site may earn money from advertising and, in the future, labeled affiliate links. Neither affects calculator logic or the conclusions in our guides.
